- BroadCast 2.1
-
-
- BroadCast is a tool to exchange short messages between Macintoshs.
- It is installed by dragging it into the system folder. To send a
- message, open the chooser and select first broadcast, then one or
- more recipients. Click OK and enter your message. You may select an
- icon to accompany the text. Voila. The receiver will get a dialog
- on his screen. The dialog shows the icon, text, the time the message
- was received, the sender and two buttons: OK and Answer. The answer
- is used as the direct path back to the sender without opening the
- chooser.
-
- BroadCast 2.x adds a "background" mode that allows to receive multiple
- messages in the background (using notifications), and each message is
- displayed in a window of its own and can be answered individually.
-
- BroadCast is shareware: it costs $25 per zone, or $100 per entire
- appletalk network. Send your money (check in local currency, please),
- and you'll receive the disk with all the necessary files. Btw,
- registered users will get an invoice, a license and a disk.
-
-
- BroadCast 2.1 fixes the following bugs that had been present
- in version 2.0:
- - crashes with 32bit mode and Tune-up
- - crashes with Microsoft programs on the 68000 based Macs and
- the Mac LC
- - GetRequest -1099 when switching AppleTalk connections. This should be
- the same bug that causes the same error id on PowerBooks. Most likely
- to occur if File Sharing is enabled.
- - background mode does not work in system 7.0 when Broadcast is open in
- the chooser in the background while the first message arrives.
- - less sensitive to erroneous messages. Messages are now verified to be
- either declared size (256 or 384 bytes) or dynamic (string size + 1).
- This should reduce the likelihood of interferences with InterPoll.
-
- As a new feature, this version includes colour icons (hopefully, I don't
- have a colour monitor at present) and also adds balloon help.
